Notes from the Nurse

Hello Parents,
The school year is underway, and your children are learning so much! I would like to remind you
that as the weather turns cold, please send your child dressed appropriately to include hats and
gloves. Your child will be outside for recess anytime that the wind chill is above 0 degrees.

If your child is sick, please keep them at home. If your child is running a temperature of 100.4 or
higher, they should not be sent to school until they have been fever free for 24 hours without
medication. This is for the comfort of your child and prevents the spread of illness throughout
the school. Generally, students who are too sick to take part in normal activities or need more
care than staff can provide should stay home. This may include fever, vomiting, repeated
diarrhea, severe cough, unexplained skin rash or draining sores. Students need to stay home until
24 hours after the symptoms go away, or treatment has begun.

Please call the office by 9am each day that your student is home to ensure the safety of your
student. Keep the main office informed of any contact changes or new telephone numbers so that
we may reach you easily during the school day. Do not forget to get yourself and your child a
yearly flu vaccine! As a reminder you will receive an email anytime your student is seen by the
nurse. Rest assured that I will call with any immediate concerns. There is an elementary school
handbook that has a lot of great information for parents you can access here.

Let’s have a great year!
